The bustling market town of Nizza Monferrato is a ten minute drive away. It is a major centre of the wine trade with excellent restaurants, shopping facilities, banks & cinema. The colourful weekly Friday market at the main square Piazza Garibaldi and the antique market – held third Sunday of each month – are very popular.

Numerous hilltop towns adorn the area, the rolling hills themselves carpeted with vineyards producing the fine wines of Asti, Alba and Barolo, to name but three. Sampling and perhaps purchasing wine at any of the small producers in the area is one of the great pleasures of this region.

Three beautiful medieval cities lie within thirty minutes drive. Alba famed for its truffle production hosts a truffle fair each November which no gourmand should miss.

Asti celebrates its eponymous sparkling wine but also hosts its own horse race, its Palio, in September.

Arguably the most beautiful of all, Acqui Terme is a true hidden gem, a medieval spa town where hot springs still bubble in the town square and one can bathe in one of Europe’s largest swimming pools.

A little further afield the cities of Turin, Genoa and Milan provide city chic and international airports; the former two within an hours drive and Milan an hour and a half away.

The Ligurian coast with its beaches and resorts is only 40 minutes along the motorway.
Going north and west the Italian Lakes and in winter the ski resorts of Sestreire and Salsa d’Oux are all easily in reach.
